ANJANETTE PRUDLO
Anjanette was born in New York of German immigrants. Although she grew up in California, she spent summers in Europe, experiencing a European way-of-life both there and at home. Her father owned a German restaurant and involved his family in- and was a leader of- the German community of San Jose.
During her four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, Anjanette lived in Japan for one year and traveled through Asia, appreciating the various flavors and cultures. After being honorably discharged, she began her studies at San Jose State University, eventually earning a BFA in Fine Art for Sculpture and Photography. During her college years, Anjanette visited most countries in Europe in the summers as well as spending two months traveling throughout India. Working her way through college in the fine dining industry further enhanced her knowledge of wines and the importance of pairing them to set off the flavors of the food.
Anja's extensive exposure to wines through restaurant tastings and her travels has enabled her to develop a strong awareness of the different varietals, countries, specialty wines and the background that goes along with each one. It's this extensive knowledge and precise palate for wines that she brings to the table at PF Wine Tours.
Not only is Anja well-versed with wine but she is also a successful artist. She has been showing her work since 1991. Her pieces are currently displayed in galleries in Healdsburg and St. Helena.

?DID YOU KNOW?
IT WASN'T WINES THAT BROUGHT EARLY SETTLERS TO NAPA CITY, BUT GOLD!
Although wine making preceded the California Gold rush in Napa Valley, the great motivator for people to settle here was the Gold Rush. Miners who had traveled Northward in the 1850s in search of the yellow metal returned to Napa City seeking refuge from the harsh winter season. What they found was lots of employment opportunities: cattle ranches needed ranch hands....Sawmills cutting lumber for Benicia and San Francisco needed workers...even the day-to-day operations in this young city created employment for new arrivals.
