TAKE A WINE TOUR THAT'S AS SPECIAL AND INDIVIDUAL AS YOU ARE
Keever Vineyards, from their hilltop veranda
There are a lot of one-size-fits-all wine tours out there - yet wine tasting is very personal. It reflects your tastes, your personality and your preferences and with 547 wineries you can visit and another 236 you cannot, in Napa and almost as many in Sonoma wine country, choosing which ones to go to and getting there can be a daunting task.
Here at PF Wine Tours, we have personally visited, tasted and experienced each winery we recommend and through that process, found quite a few "hidden gems" - wineries that don't allow large tour groups and where you often meet the winemaker and/or owner. We only take you to places that meet our criteria (awesome wines, great people and story, atmosphere, vibe and beauty and/or views. The wines must hold up 2 weeks later at home without the pretty view and cool host and on a consistent basis - yeah, we test them!.

Napa/Sonoma/RussianRiver WINE TOURS by PF Wine TOURS
View from where you taste at Viader
As a local with a husband who has had his own business, Handcrafted Woodworks (www.mfantucci.com), here in Napa for more than 20 years, building custom pieces as well as restoring many antiques and other fine furniture at winery owners' homes and wineries, we have a connection to many of the most amazing wineries - and you can reap the benefits of our close relationship with them. Whether it's the chance to taste a rare vintage, do a tasting with the owner(s), we can get you the VIP treatment you deserve.
We plan your tour to include 4 wineries with an option for a 5th but it is up to you. We don't recommend more than 6 wineries in a day as your palate will be shot by that time! Again- it is totally up to you - we will take you anywhere you want!

We recommend only wineries we have personally experienced & that made our list
View from one of our secret wineries
We personally visit every winery that we recommend and take you to. To make our list, wineries must have :
1. Awesome wine
2. Consistently amazing experiences and great wine hosts
3. Beauty, views and/or cool atmosphere.
4. Passion-we love wineries where you can feel the passion that goes into making their wines, the passion for their winery, their vineyards, the art they display...intimate places that don't feel "corporate" because they aren't
As of April 2023, we have personally visited and toured 339 wineries between Napa, Sonoma/Sonoma and Sonoma/RR/Healdsburg. We have tasted the wines, done the tour if they have one, often met the owners and/or winemakers and heard their story. Big or small, well-known names or not, each winery has its own personality, especially the more out-of-the-way, smaller, hidden-gem wineries. When you book a private tour with us, we make all appointments at the wineries that suit your preferences and the personality of your group - you don't wait or have to find a spot to squeeze in at the bar. Actually, we almost always book seated tastings which does not mean more expensive tasting fees.
ITINERARY PLANNING- You will have received a wine tour questionnaire with the first informational email which includes options and pricing. When I get your answers back, I will create your tour for you from scratch based on your answers, make all appointments and also figure out lunch whether it be an Al Fresco picnic experience at a vineyard, food/wine pairing or restaurant. My blurbs include a link to the winery site, our experience and why they made our list, wines offered and cost, tasting fees and options for different tastings and/or tours. Once I have created your tour and made all the appointments, I email your itinerary days or weeks (depends how far in advance you booked) before your tour with a blurb on each winery you will be visiting, for those who love to read that stuff and do a bunch of research.
You do not have to stress about logistics, timing, calling back and forth, lunch, etc. We do it all for you - your only responsibility is to be there when we pick you up!

?DID YOU KNOW?
NAPA VALLEY'S FIRST COMMERCIAL WINERY WAS ESTABLISHED BY FAMED WINE-MAKER CHARLES KRUG?
only
Charles Krug may be a household name in wines but in 1861, it was also the first commercial winery in Napa Valley. Soon, the commercialization caught on and by 1889, there were more than 140 wineries in operation, including famous names such as:
DURING PROHIBITION, SOME WINERIES FOUND A LOOPHOLE WHICH ALLOWED THEM TO CONTINUE OPERATIING:
In 1920, a grave threat arrived to Napa Valley's wine business - Prohibition. Vineyards were abandoned. Winemakers found themselves unemployed and flocked to other trades to make a living over the next 13 years and 11 months But a handful of wineries were able to continue producing the outlawed beverage for sacramental purposes, selling wine to churches across the country, with a little bootlegging involved as well, no doubt. Some still exist today and they are: Beringer, Beaulieu Vineyards ("BV"), Charles Krug and Larkmead (in our top 3 places in Napa for Cabs). Included is Inglenook but it hasn't operated continuously and has changed hands so many times. (the name "Inglenook" was bought by Francis Ford Coppola almost six years ago, whose winery is now producing wine for that label. His Rubicon Estate has always been the old Inglenook Estate, now the name is back to what it was, there is no more Rubicon or Niebaum/Coppola.
The repeal of Prohibition in 1933 brought the beginning of Napa Valley's wine renaissance. After WWII, slowly more of an interest in wine making resurged. By the 1960s, there were about 30 wineries. That number grew slowly into the 1970s until the Judgement in Paris 1976 blind tasting rocked the wine world and so the wine industrythe wne industry blossomed in Napa, spreading over to Sonoma, expanding tremendously and refining the taste to the superior standards we enjoy today. We can tell you all the details, if you like, while you are on the tour.
